Recipe: simple japanese curry
Ingredients:
- Potatoes
- Carrots
- Onion
- Garlic
- Chicken stock - I usually just buy the supermarket pre-made stock
- Japanese curry blocks
- Proteins you feel like having - I usually use anything that I have on hand like diced chicken, diced beef, tofu, or lean ground beef (this is a bit unusual, but works for me)
- (Optional) Frozen peas
- (Optional) Red apple, grated (half)
- (Optional) Honey
- (Optional) Ketchup
- (Optional) Worcestershire sauce
- (Optional) Chilli powder
- (Optional) Green onions
- (Optional) A bit of milk or cream to make it creamier
Steps:
- Add protein first. Brown the chicken or beef. It doesn’t need to be cooked through at this point. Just browning the meat will do.
- Add onion, saute until soften
- Add garlic, saute until fragrant
- Add chicken stock
- Add carrot and potatoes. Cook until tender.
- Add grated apple, worcestershire sauce, ketchup, honey, and curry blocks
- Add peas
- Add a few table spoons of milk or cream
- Serve with rice. Top with chilli powder, and green onions.
