Recipe: mulled wine
Ingredients:
- Dry Spanish red wine (or use merlot), 1 bottle
- Orange juice, from 1-2 oranges
- Orange sliced, from 1 orange
- Whole cinnamon, 1-2 sticks
- Whole star anise, 3 pcs
- Whole cloves, 3 pcs
- Whole cardamon, 1/2 tsp (about 5 pcs)
- Whole nutmeg, half, grated
- Vanilla extract (optional)
- Honey or maple syrup (optional)
- Spiced rum, 50 ml (optional)
Steps:
- In a sauce pan, put in the wine and everything else (spices, fruits, and sweetener).
- Heat them up on a very low heat, bring it to simmer, about 15 minutes or so. Avoid boiling, otherwise the alcohol will evaporate.
- Serve hot.
