Maslow's hierarchy of needs: why we can't accomplish anything without food, clothing, and sleep

This post is a reminder on a classic psychology theory by Abraham Maslow: a hierarchy of needs. It is normally illustrated as a pyramid, with more basic needs at the bottom. The pyramid represents an idea that in order for a human to move forward (ie. "go to the next stage in life"), the prior stage must be satisfied first.

Maslow's hierarchy of needs pyramid with five levels from bottom to top: Physiological (breathing, food, water, shelter, clothing, warmth, rest/sleep), Safety and security (health, employment, property, family, social ability), Love and belonging (friendship, family, intimacy, sense of connection), Self-esteem (confidence, achievement/accomplishment, respect of others, the need to be a unique individual), and Self-actualisation (achieving one's full potential, morality, creativity, acceptance, experience purpose, meaning and inner potential Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.
